The premise

The Night Before the Rite

The Threshold Codex is stolen

The Codex has vanished from the Vault — the only book by which the Rite can be performed. Teo was found beside it with burned hands. He has not woken up.

The Dean has given you one night. By dawn — a name. Otherwise the Rite is cancelled for the whole year, and none of you will cross the Threshold. Isa included.

Cast

Isa Werner

Isa Werner

your roommate, third year · suspect

Sharp, honest to the point of discomfort, holding a Vault key she never returned. The one person in your year you trust without proof.

Kaspar Doll

Kaspar Doll

year prefect · suspect

“Top of the year” — so he says, and almost everyone agrees. A perfectly tidy room, a perfect robe for the Rite, a perfect alibi.

Magister Ruk

Magister Ruk

third-year tutor · suspect

A brilliant teacher with debts, vials and a smile that is a little too soft. People whisper about his “apothecary,” but no one has complained yet.

Teo Lann

Teo Lann

third year, the injured one

Found by the pedestal, hands burned, unconscious. What he was doing in the Vault at night, no one knows but him.

Dean Olv

Dean Olv

head of the Collegium

Gives you one night and not a single piece of advice. Trusts facts, not people — and knows where that leads.

Healer Od

Healer Od

Infirmary

Has seen every burn in the Collegium for thirty years and can tell one from another. Says little, is wrong even less.

Pim the gardener

Pim the gardener

Trial Garden

Walks the campus at night with a lantern and notices more than a gardener should. Likes apple liqueur and dislikes people trampling his hedges.

How the investigation works

01Follow the trailCrossing the campus costs time. You can’t see everyone before dawn.
02Gather threadsSome questions only open up after other discoveries.
03Prove your theoryAt the end you need a culprit, a motive and evidence.
